Insight SIP strengthens team in Japan
Sophia Antipolis, France, 18 July 2023 - Insight SIP, the specialist developer of ultra-miniature RF modules, has been established in Japan for over 15 years and is proud to have developed a strong growing customer base in Japan’s unique and highly demanding electronic industry. To support our ongoing growth, we are pleased to announce we are strengthening our team in Japan with two new appointments, Nigel Dowdell as Business Development Manager and Masahiro Wakiyama as Field Sales Specialist.
Aki Tsukogoshi, our long serving Insight SiP Country Manager Japan retains overall responsibility for our Japanese Operations.
He will now be joined by Nigel Dowdell as Business Development Manager. Nigel has lived in Japan since 1996 and worked in the electronics field mainly in distribution, specialising in touch, magnetic and other analog technologies. Nigel worked for ADM, an Analog Devices distributor in Osaka for many years, and then the new business development section at the HQ of Kaga Electronics in Tokyo after they acquired ADM in 2007. Although Nigel is English, prior to Japan he lived and worked in New Zealand, Australia, USA and UK. Yet, having married a Japanese woman, he has lived in Japan for almost 30 years, longer than in any other place. This gives him a unique perspective on how to best prepare and support new business development in the Japanese market and act as a bridge between various business cultures. This background along with his broad and deep network allows us to reach customers in various markets throughout Japan.
Also joining the team is Masahiro Wakiyama who is our field sales specialist responsible for sales promotion. He has built on his formidable network gained from his initial experience as a freshman in PC development at Toshiba. There, together with electronic parts manufacturers he helped define requirements needed for the early laptop computers. After 15 years at Toshiba he transferred to Global Electronics where he was responsible for product marketing for Analog Devices, Bourns, IXYS, and Silver Tel products, running a team of thirty people in Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka. He then moved to AVNET with his team to manage the hand-over of the Analog Devices business for three years and then returned to Global Electronics. Wakiyama-san or ‘Mike’ has a long history of working together with overseas suppliers in the USA and UK.
